The Black Swan Hotel is fully licensed to hold civil marriages and partnerships, offering a variety of rooms to suit all sizes of parties from 4 to 90 guests. The local registrars are based in Malton. Their contact number is 0845 034 9483 and they can be contacted Monday - Friday from 9.15am - 1pm.
If do you choose to hold your civil ceremony at the Black Swan Hotel, the booking procedure is as follows. We would first ask that you check that the hotel has availability on the required date. If the date is available we can provisionally hold this for you for up to one week. You would then need to check that the registrar has availability on the same date and at a time which is suitable to the hotel and yourselves. If this is available you would then make a booking with the registrar and then confirm back with the hotel. At this point the hotel would take a non refundable deposit to secure the booking. We would also require you to sign and return a copy of our terms and conditions.
Please note that due to licencing laws, food and drink cannot be served in the same room as the civil ceremony one hour before or one hour after the wedding.
Licensed Rooms:
The Rutland Restaurant is our largest licensed room for civil ceremonies. This light, spacious room can hold a maximum of 90 guests for a civil ceremony – room hire charge from £750.00
The Garden Room, opening onto the walled garden, can accommodate up to 70 guests for civil ceremonies – room hire charge from £500.00
The Tudor Lounge boasts an original stone fireplace, with oak beams and low ceilings dating back to Tudor times for a maximum of 16 guests – room hire charge from £200.00
The Crosland Room looks onto the church yard at the side of the hotel. This room can accommodate up to 50 guests – room hire charge from £150.00
