The Black Swan at Helmsley offers a warm Yorkshire welcome, with a history dating back five centuries. Now a four-star boutique hotel, it combines antiques alongside contemporary art in its colourful interior. A stay here gives you time to unwind and savour delicious menus in the hotels two AA-Rosette restaurant, where seasonal Yorkshire dishes are given a creative and cosmopolitan twist by Australian born Head Chef Paul Peters. The hotel is also famous for its afternoon tea which can be enjoyed in either in the award winning tearoom, or beside one of our many log fires.
Christmas Eve – Tuesday 24th December 2013
On arrival at the hotel, once you’ve had chance to settle into your room and make yourself familiar with your new home for the next few days, join us in either the Cygnet Bar or one of our lounges for a welcome ‘Sweet Treat’ and a glass of bubbly to toast your arrival. For the gents, you’ll enjoy a Dark Chocolate Torte, with Roasted Hazelnuts, Liquid Caramel, and Chocolate Glass Crisp and ladies will be treated to a Blood Orange Parfait, with Cinnamon Sponge, Orange Jelly, Burnt Italian Meringue, and Candied Orange.
From 7pm we’d like to invite you to join your fellow guests and the management team for a champagne and canapés drinks reception, where we’ll also be joined by Helmsley Methodist Carol Singers for some traditional Christmas carols. To start your Christmas break in style, Chef Paul Peters will then serve a fabulous six course gala dinner from 7.30pm.
After dinner, join us in the Cygnet Bar for live music for swing and lounge singer Adrian Doyle who will entertain you in the bar with a selection of songs from the likes of Sinatra and The Rat Pack.
For those of you wishing to attend Midnight Mass at All Saints Church, hot chocolate and mulled wine will be served as you return to warm you up!

Christmas Day - Wednesday 25th December 2013
On Christmas Day as you come down for breakfast Santa will be waiting for you and he might even have a present for those of you who have been good!!
Christmas Day lunch is always a leisurely affair served from 1pm – 3pm, accompanied by music from saxophonist Jon Taylor. After lunch to toast the Queens speech, for those choosing to, Christmas cake and port will be served in the Cygnet Bar and lounges.
Later in the evening a light informal buffet dinner will be served giving you the option to dine either in the restaurant or the more comfortable surroundings of one of our lounges. Live music will then be performed in the Cygnet Bar by the fabulous Val Boyers, singer and acoustic guitarist.

Boxing Day – Thursday 26th December 2013
After breakfast on Boxing Day the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You might choose to go for a walk or a drive across the Moors.
For those of you wishing to stay a bit closer to home, on Boxing Day afternoon Tearoom Manager Alison Souter will be giving a fun master class into the History of Afternoon Tea. Following this, traditional Afternoon Tea will be available for you to enjoy in the lounges. There’ll also be entertainment throughout the afternoon from pianist Chris Meyers in the Cygnet Bar.
Dinner on Boxing Day evening will be served in the main restaurant from 7pm – 9pm, and then as the festive celebrations draw to a close, we’ll have entertainment from the amazing ‘Swinging Santa’s’ – the ultimate jazzy Christmas band for our festive grand finale!

Inevitably, there sadly comes a time when you have to go home. Following breakfast on Friday morning, we’ll wish you a fond farewell until next time.

Single Room – £819.00 – please note that we only have one single room
T&C’s: A deposit of £100 per room, per night is required to secure your Christmas booking. The balance for your stay should be settled by 1st December 2013. If you wish to extend your booking, these additional nights should be settled on departure from the hotel. Provisional bookings can be held for up to one week, after this time they will be released if a deposit has not been received. Please note that all deposits are non-refundable. Sample menus for Christmas will be available online, slight amendments and variations to these menus may occur. Any guests with dietary requirements should advise the hotel at least 14 days prior to arrival. Please note that on Christmas Eve, guests will be seated at mixed tables for the Gala Dinner. The hotel reserves the right to amend the content of the package without prior notice. Children are welcome to join for the Christmas package, and will be charged at 75% of the adult rate.
