A visit to the International Centre for Birds of Prey
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been busy teaming up with some of the best local attractions and activities in the area to bring you a fantastic selection of things to do whilst staying in Helmsley.
Last week, we were delighted to launch our new ‘Explore More’ package which features two attractions located just a stone’s throw from the hotel; the new International Centre for Birds of Prey, and Rievaulx Terrace.
Kimberley and Jayne had the pleasure of recently visiting the new International Centre for Birds of Prey, located just outside of Helmsley in the grounds of Duncombe Park to find out more about what it has to offer. When they arrived at the ICBP they were met by owner and manager of the new attraction Charlie Heap. The ICBP is Helmsley’s newest attraction which opened just before Easter 2013. Charlie has spent over a year now carefully planning and building the centre which is twinned with its sister site in Gloucestershire. His passion, knowledge and enthusiasm for the centre is contagious and he has every right to be extremely proud of what he has achieved.
What really surprised both Jayne and Kimberley when they visited was the sheer size of the International Centre for Birds of Prey. They have a very large collection of exotic and spectacular birds to see, and in addition to this there are 3 flying demonstrations each day which allow guests to watch these beautiful creatures fly against the stunning backdrop of the Duncombe Park estate. For anyone visiting Helmsley, we really would recommend paying them a visit.
