As the lights go down, the Black Swan comes to life! That’s the best way to describe New Year at the Black Swan.
By day, our New Year package is a relaxed affair allowing you time to mosey around Helmsley and explore the unique, quirky shops nestled throughout the town, or take residence in front of one of our log fires and enjoy peace and quiet for the final few hours of 2013. By night, the hotel comes alive as the party arrives in town!
Our two night New Year package arrives on Monday 30th December 2013 and leaves on Wednesday 1st January 2014. Set with cosy lounges, roaring log fires, award winning cuisine and fantastic celebrations, all within some of England’s most spectacular scenery, the Black Swan is the perfect place to escape for your New Year break.
Monday 30th December 2013
Your room will be available to check in from 3pm on Monday afternoon. When you’re ready, a glass of fizz and one of Chef’s ‘Sweet Treats’ will be waiting for you in the lounges between 3pm and 6pm. For the ladies, this will be a Blood Orange Parfait, with Cinnamon Sponge, Orange Jelly, Burnt Italian Meringue, and Candied Orange, and for the gents this will be a Dark Chocolate Torte, with Roasted Hazelnuts, Liquid Caramel, and Chocolate Glass Crisp.
Dinner on Monday evening is a leisurely affair, with a three course dinner served in our 2 AA rosette restaurant between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. After dinner we’re delighted to welcome David Robertshaw who’ll be entertaining you in the Cygnet Bar with beautiful piano renditions of newly released music currently found in the official UK top 40 charts.
New Year’s Eve – Tuesday 31st December 2013
Start the final day of 2013 with a hearty full English breakfast served from 8am -10am. After breakfast the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure, and to get ready for the evenings celebrations.
The New Year’s Eve celebrations start from 7pm as we ask guests to join the management team for champagne and canapés in the Garden Room. Following on, make your way through to the main restaurant where you will enjoy a magnificent seven course Gala Dinner prepared by our Head Chef Paul Peters and his team. Throughout dinner, swing and lounge singer Adrian Doyle will entertain you.
After dinner, the party really starts with our live band, who will be playing in the Garden Room until the wee small hours. At midnight, we’d like to invite you to join us at the front of the hotel where 2014 will be welcomed in by Highland Bagpipes and Auld Lang Syne.

Smoked Chicken Consommé – Smoked Chicken, Truffle, Chives and Cos lettuce
Confit Cured Salmon – Textures and Flavours of Beetroot, Horseradish, Salmon Roe, Red Vein Sorrel

We’ll ease you into the New Year with brunch served from 9am until 12 noon. Following brunch it’ll be time for you to head back home until next year.

T&C’s: A deposit of £100 per room, per night is required to secure your New Year booking. The balance for your stay should be settled by 1st December 2013. Provisional bookings can be held for up to one week, after this time they will be released if a deposit has not been received. Please note that all deposits are non-refundable. Sample menus for New Year will be available online, slight amendments and variations to these menus may occur. Any guests with dietary requirements should advise the hotel at least 14 days prior to arrival. Please note that on New Year’s Eve, guests will be seated at mixed tables for the Gala Dinner.
