We are currently looking for a dynamic, customer focused individual to join our Reception team at The Black Swan Hotel in Helmsley.

The ideal receptionist will be experienced working in hotels or restaurants within a similar role, and will provide our guests with the highest standards of personal care and attention.

Because you are the first point of contact for people walking through the door and also when people call to make bookings you will need to be friendly, fluent in English, keen to learn and have good social skills as well as a professional and efficient manner.

The right candidate must be confident in using IT systems and be able to demonstrate attention to detail in all that you do. The successful candidate will receive full training on our operating system.  You need to possess a can do attitude and be prepared to be hands on in what is a demanded.

The shifts are flexible and will include early starts and late finishes, so you must be comfortable travelling at these times. Live in accommodation could be available to candidates.

Skills Required:

The successful candidate will have an excellent telephone manner, be guest focused and have strong interpersonal and organisational skills. Previous experience within a similar environment is desirable although we will consider applicants who have transferable skills from a customer facing service role.

Experience is preferred but is not essential as on the job training will be provided. Your duties will include answering the telephone, taking reservations and inputting the reservations onto the computer. Meeting and greeting guests, liaising with other departments to see what is happening on a day to day basis.

You will be cashing up each shift. A general knowledge of the local area is advisable. You will be working on your own initiative and sometimes part of a team. The position is full-time and part time positions are available, including weekends, days and evenings on a shift pattern basis and bank holidays on a rota basis.

We are currently looking for a Chef de Partie to join our busy kitchen team. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of two years experience at a 2 AA rosette level and have a passion for creating dishes to the highest possible standard.
