It’s nice to have awards, but what’s more important to us is to provide excellent service and quality meaning that our guests will want to come back time and time again.
We’re currently very proud to have 4 stars awarded to us by the AA for the hotel, and 3 AA Rosettes awarded to Head Chef Paul Peters for our fine dining restaurant. In addition to these accolades, our Tearoom is also a very worthy winner of several awards bestowed on us by the illustrious Tea Guild.
The Tearoom is now in its sixth year of trading, and in this period has been award the Tea Guild’s award for ‘Tearoom of Excellence’ on four occasions, in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013, and in 2010 was proudly holder of the renowned title of ‘Top Tea Place’; a fabulous achievement in such a short period of time.
In addition to the Tearooms own awards, three of our speciality blended teas from the Cygnet Tea range, have also wowed judges in Great Taste 2013 by being awarded a star rating in the world’s largest and most rigorous food awards scheme, involving over 400 judges and thousands of hours of blind tasting. The award-winning teas are the Earl Grey Blue Flower, the Green Tea, Honey, Cherry Blossom and Ginseng and the Green Tea, Apple, Mint and Chilli.
As well as fabulous fine dining and traditional afternoon tea, the Black Swan is also an excellent wedding venue. For two consecutive years now, the Black Swan has won the title of ‘Best Venue’ in the North East and Yorkshire at the Wedding Industry Awards, and has for the two last year’s been well deserved national finalists.
